Originally from Bonavista, I returned to Newfoundland after 30 years in Alberta raising a family to act as caregiver for my father who recently passed away from cancer. My wife Pam (Turner) and I have made Gander our home for the long term and my business, Abbott Wellness Solutions, developed after many years of interest and training in the complementary health world.
I have a long history in business and community service and looked for a number of years for a way to be more actively involved in the health and wellness industry. I had a wonderful experience with Bowen Therapy almost 15 years ago but never found the opportunity to pursue it in any active way. When the certification training for Bowen therapy was offered in St. John’s and Moncton I felt it was time to pursue this life-long desire in a concerted fashion. This therapy forms a large part of the work I do at the clinic because of its effectiveness.
Currently, I am a certified Bowen practitioner through both international and national associations while continuing to increase my knowledge in this field through advanced education, a Holistic Health Practitioner who focuses on nutritional and lifestyle counseling, certified in the use of Cold Laser therapy, and working on a Doctor of Natural Medicine from the University of Natural Medicine. Learning has always been a passion of my life and I continue to be amazed at what there is to learn in this field of complementary health and wellness.
I try hard to have a caring and compassionate approach at the clinic and listen carefully to what my clients say. For me, it is important to work with people within the framework of where they are – respect is the important key. Sessions are relaxed and never hurried with adequate time allowed for proper consultation and effective treatment. I also firmly believe in working closely with other health care providers to bring relief to the people I consult with.
